The Cricut Freezer Paper Method is an unconventional, but nifty way to use your Cricut machine to decorate clothing or fabric.
I had seen some examples of t-shirts that were done using the Cricut freezer paper method, but this was the first tutorial video I had seen showing the entire process step-by-step.
What you'll need:
- Freezer paper
- Fabric paint
- Foam Brushes
- T-shirt or other clothing
- Cricut Machine
Cut freezer paper to fit the Cricut mat and stick the paper to the mat, dull side down.
If using text for your stencil, be sure to press the flip button to get a mirror image. This ensures that the text is the right way when you apply the stencil.
Use dial to set your size.
These are the settings you should use:
- Pressure: medium
- Speed: medium
- Depth: 5
Now before you start, move the blade to the center of the page, then press "Center Point". This puts the stencil at the center of the page so we don't cut over the edges of the paper.
Now for the next step: preparing to paint!
Put a piece of freezer paper inside of the shirt to keep the paint from seeping through to the back of the t-shirt.
Position the stencil onto the shirt and iron it shiny side down. Be sure not to use steam!
Now you are ready to paint. Using your foam brush, apply the paint to the stencil.
Wait for it to dry, put on another coat if necessary.
That's all there is to it!
Now go ahead and make your own cute clothing using the Cricut freezer paper method.
